Import Access

Not all countries are allowed to import seafood, only countries (regions) that have obtained the qualification for inspection and quarantine or have trade with China are allowed to import seafood.

Record of recipient and shipper

Overseas exporters or agents exporting aquatic products to China, as well as importers of imported aquatic food products, shall complete the registration procedures for the consignee and shipper of imported aquatic products with the customs department.

Entry quarantine approval

Before signing the trade contract, the importing enterprise of aquaculture products shall apply to the customs and obtain the Import Animal and Plant Quarantine License. For the same variety, the same exporting country or region, and the same processing and using unit, only one license can be obtained at a time; The unit that handles the quarantine approval procedures should be an independent legal entity and directly sign trade contracts or agreements with foreign countries; Products applying for import animal and plant quarantine permits should be included in China's admission list.

Import inspection and quarantine

For the imported water products selected for on-site inspection, customs will conduct on-site inspections, including checking the quantity of goods, sensory inspection, and checking the quantity of goods, outer packaging, labels, and other contents. After the on-site inspection is completed, the customs also need to take samples and send them to the laboratory for testing according to regulations, mainly detecting hygiene items such as pathogenic microorganisms, parasites, residues, and heavy metal residues. Imported aquatic products that pass the inspection and quarantine according to the qualification assessment procedure can only be sold and used after the customs issue an entry goods inspection and quarantine certificate.
