The Models 8008, 8016, 9008 and 9016 Modular Controllers expand on Newport's modular laser diode controller concept to meet the higher channel densities found in Dense WDM (DWDM) applications and 2-D VCSEL arrays where all the lasers have similar electrical configurations. The eight or sixteen bays accept an array of LDD, TEC, and LDD/TEC combo modules.

Advanced 16-bit technology coupled with careful designs that isolate digital and analog signals ensure precision control and measurement capabilities. GPIB/IEEE-488.2 and RS-232C interfaces are included with the Model 8000 mainframe for complete remote control and data collection. LabVIEW drivers are supplied with every Model 8000 Modular Controller.

The MAP-200 mainframes are offered in three configurations for optimal adaptability within test sets: a three-slot configuration and a 19-inch rack, eight-slot configuration with either front- or rear-facing orientation for optimal fiber routing. All three configurations are 3 RU high. The MAP-200 mainframes include all hardware required for bench-top use, including rubber-accented feet located at the corners for optimal stability and vibration isolation. Investment protection is maximized for previous-generation MAP customers using a simple transition kit that allows the insertion of previously field-deployed MAP modules in the MAP-200 mainframe. The MAP-200 also allows users to share the modules within a mainframe.
