The Models 8008, 8016, 9008 and 9016 Modular Controllers expand on Newport's modular laser diode controller concept to meet the higher channel densities found in Dense WDM (DWDM) applications and 2-D VCSEL arrays where all the lasers have similar electrical configurations. The eight or sixteen bays accept an array of LDD, TEC, and LDD/TEC combo modules.
The mainframe automatically detects which module is installed in each bay and displays the system configuration on a large LCD screen. A sophisticated processor provides enhanced system control and data collection capabilities.
GPIB/IEEE-488 and RS-232C interfaces are included with the High-Density Laser Diode Controller Models for complete remote control and data collection.

The Newport 5600 High Power Laser Diode Drivers feature advanced circuit designs and careful layout of laser diode drivers to provide you with an extremely low noise, highly stable output current. External analog modulation input allows precision control of the laser output for a variety of applications including power level control and wavelength tuning. A monitor photodiode is reversed biased at 5 Volts. All laser diode parameters are accessible with 16-bit resolution including the laser diode's forward voltage for full characterization.
Time tested laser diode protection safety features are incorporated into the 5600 Series Laser Diode Drivers. Input power module filters provide first stage protection against transients. Additional filtering and power regulation stages coupled with high speed transient detection circuits let you operate your laser diode worry-free from transients. A slow turn-on sequence, multiple output shorting circuits, and an independent current limiting feature provide the superior protection you demand from all your laser diode instrumentation.

The Newport 5600-10 Laser Diode Driver operates in either CW or Quasi-CW (QCW) mode with up to 10 A of output current. The instrument is capable of driving multiple high-power laser diode bars in series. Full 16-bit control and characterization (L, V, I) of laser diodes is attainable via the IEEE-488 or RS-232 interface. An internal function generator is programmable from 200 Hz–300 kHz with either a sinewave, triangle or squarewave output, allowing signal modulation in both the constant current (ACC) mode and in constant power (APC) mode. In addition, an external analog modulation input port is included allowing modulation of the output current using other waveforms and frequencies. Specifications.
